So, down to business........

eBay does a great job of covering the mechanics of buying for the buyer and selling for the seller and anyone can read it, so we won’t repeat it here – we want you to have an advantage! But first let's get set up ready to go;.

The first thing that you need to do is register here on eBay.co.uk – this really is quick and easy, and please do trust eBay. They haven’t become this successful without being very careful with your personal details!! Go ahead and register, then we will take advantage of your new found entrepreneurial spirit!

We would also recommend setting up a paypal account - click here if you are an individual trader:

Or lick below if you are serious about this and want to set yourself up as a business or want to be able to accept credit and debit cards:

The importance of feedback

OK – ready to go? Not quite….a minor thing like feedback is now the only barrier to your success. No-one is going to buy anything from someone without a positive feedback score. Even as a newbie seller you really need a feedback star – even a yellow one will do! No problem – use our search tool to find some really cheap items in a category that you are interested in, or simply search for buy-it-now items that don't charge you shipping and cost less than £1!

Pick at least ten items, bid for them and follow eBay’s buyer guidance. Go to our Buyers Guide for more info. You can buy lots of items for under £1, so there is no problem in bidding for anything cheap in order to get positive feedback, you may even find some useful products or information that will be useful in the future! Remember though that the object of this exercise is to get 100% positive feedback and a yellow star feedback – so don’t worry too much what you buy, the cheaper the better really!

Now you are almost ready to go on to make fortunes – but we would like to give you one more tip before we move on. Feedback is the most important asset that your business has – remember to always keep your customer happy and maintain that feedback score (we will cover this in detail in the Seller’s Guide), however as we will cover in the Buyers Guide one of the best sources for items to sell is eBay itself. We would recommend creating a new account and follow the steps above a second time to create one account for buying and one for selling – all you need is a different e-mail address (create a new yahoo email or new hotmail account if you don’t already have one).
This way you can protect your business from poor feedback that is not your fault – again we shall cover the reasons for this in detail in the buyer and seller guides so onwards towards your fortune!
