Buyers Guide

Where do I Source Products to Sell on eBay?

There are a number of sources for products to sell - and one of the primary sources is right under your nose!

eBay is a perfect source of goods for resale, and many people make a very good living simply buying and reselling on eBay. Here are a number of ways to buy cheaply, and resell at a higher price using the guidance in the Sellers Guide:
  • Buy when the market is quiet - you will need to research when the market for your chosen product is quiet , but generally the market is quieter during holiday or vacation time when people are more likely to be sunning themselves or doing other things than being on the PC! Conversely, more activity happens at the weekend , so look out for bargains that you can buy mid-week. Of course, as a seller you will ensure that your product sells at peak time to maximise your profit……………

  • Look out for misspellings Check for items that will not appear under an ordinary search. Anyone trying to sell a "Ladtop" will find it difficult to tap into the main market, because their product will not be found under a search, so if you find these types of product, you are likely to be able to buy the product for far less than it is worth, and be able to sell it immediately at a profit!

  • Buy from poor sellers - take all the advice from the Sellers Guide, and seek out sellers who ignore it. This has some inherent risks, and you must accept them if you want to make money this way, but there can be great returns that more than make up for the odd bad experience! Look for sellers with less than ten positive feedbacks - other buyers will not touch them, so the price they get for their item is likely to be lower than you can get with your great feedback rating!! (If you need a refresher on how to do this, click here). Check out other sellers without a picture or a poor description, and take a risk - most other buyers won't do this, but you will need to make a judgement on whether you can afford to be stuck with a dud! Whatever happens remember that if you give negative feedback, these guys can retaliate and knock your business through no fault of your own. Another excellent reason to have more than one account

  • Check out different markets - eBay now exists all over the world, so why limit the source of your products to sell to one market? Use the currency converter to see what the best country to buy you product is. You will need to take shipping costs into account in your comparison though, and make sure they will ship internationally before bidding!!! Click on the links below to get an idea of the other English speaking markets - providing you are registered you do not need to register again and you can buy from whatever eBay instance you choose! You may however decide to register with a new account for each market, both to safeguard your feedback whilst dealing with unfamiliar markets and to be able to track your dealings with the different sources...... but you don't have to and you don't have to register in the country to be able to use their market (but you can if you wish!. You can do it all by registering on eBay.co.uk for instance I have an account that I use exclusively for trading on eBay.com which allows me to track all dealings on that site seperately from dealings on eBay.co.uk

Other Sources

Although eBay is a great source of products to sell, it is not the only one! Some of the other sources are listed below:
  • Garage / Jumble sales, charity shops - you may have noticed that people will buy almost anything on eBay, and that one person's "rubbish" is another person's "treasure" - after all you cleared out your attic to sell all those things that you didn't want any more didn't you?. That said, this used to be a very lucrative source for selling, but not as much nowadays. Charity shops are getting increasingly good at using eBay to increase their income, and other people are using eBay to sell the contents of their attic rather than the local garage sale. Profits can still be made, but they are harder to generate!

  • Closeout sales, liquidators, bankrupt stock etc - buying in bulk bankrupt stock can sometimes be profitable providing you aren't too particular what it is that you want to sell! There are reputable companies like Liquidation.com that you can purchase bulk bankrupt stock at great prices, and resell on eBay.

  • Dropsellers - Dropsellers are companies that will ship products directly to your customer for you. You can start to sell products that you don't actually have in your possession, and someone else does the hard work for you. To good to be true? Well, the truth is that in a lot of cases, yes it is too good to be true, so BE CAREFUL WHEN USING DROP SHIPPERS. Check your pricing and ensure that you can make a profit on top of what the goods cost you, and always research intensively before getting involved with any drop shipping venture. Remember, if the product is no longer for whatever reason, it is you that have sold to the customer, and it is your feedback rating that will suffer!! Yet another reason to have more than one account. I would recommend that if you go down this route then only go to:

    Worldwide Brands inc.

Before you trade make sure that you have an alternative drop shipping eBay account That you use exclusively for drop-shipping.
That's it for now, but make sure that you bookmark the homepage and visit us again soon - this website is in development, and we have only just started to scratch the surface of what is possible!!!!
